My name is Steven Wright and when I think about what has influenced who I am as a player and as a person, that can easily be summed up in these words: Hard Work, Dedication and Family.
Football has been a part of my life since I was five years old. The sport has always been more than just a game to me, it has been a way a life. It has been getting up and giving your all, even when you think you have nothing left to give. It is being dedicated, having courage and being brave enough to get up every time you fall. It is finding energy when you feel like you have no more to give. It’s trusting your teammates, family and coaches to have your back, to guide you, to support you and to protect you. The lessons that football has taught me are countless. My goals are set and are surrounded by giving back to the sport that has given so much to me.
Playing college ball and pursuing an education that will lead me to a life of success is where my heart is. I want to grow academically, physically, mentally, and emotionally as a student athlete. I want to be a hardworking player not just on the field but also in the classroom and the community.
One major part that has influenced me of playing football is the team volunteering. Giving back to the community came into my life at a young age, I have grown into understanding that football is a blessing, and many people don’t have the opportunity to get to do what I do because they are battling some sort of disease. It is meaningful to me to still be able to continue serving the community and play the game that I love.
