Welcome to my profile. I am Alex Stokes in Alamosa, Colorado. I will be a senior in the upcoming school year graduating in May 2019. I am originally born and raised until the age of 10 in Florida. My family moved to Colorado in 2012. I was home-schooled from 3rd grade through 9th grade. I did not choose to attend High School until my sophomore year. I am on track to graduate (finish) high school in three years, while maintaining a 3.9-4.0 GPA and being a three letter athlete.
The moment this journey began, I knew that I loved (wanted something more out of) football. There has been a driving force behind every action, passion! (I seem to be just the passenger holding on for the ride.) The first time my parents put a football in my small chubby hands, they knew as well as I, football was for me. I have always been larger than most (currently 285 pounds and 5' 10"), which is an attribute that has helped me exponentially.
I began playing flag football in 2006, then had a tackle football camp in 2007. My love for the game exploded, especially since my dad was a referee and taught me the rules of the game at a young age. In 2008, Naples First Baptist started a pee wee tackle football program in the fall and speed and agility camps in the spring annually. I played for the Beacons until we moved to Colorado. In the fall of 2012, I played for the Monte Vista Rec League and we won the championship. In 2013, I learned to play 8 man tackle football for Sangre de Cristo school. That year I also attended a NO HUDDLE camp along with the following year. 8 man football was nice to learn how to play, but my passion was in 11 man, so in 2014 I played for Alamosa Ortega Middle School. That was my 8th-grade year. In 2015, I went up to the high school where I am currently. During the summer camp, the coaches assigned me to the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams. I played on Friday nights and Saturday afternoons. It was great! Since that season, I have just been on Varsity. During the summers, I attended the Air Force Academy Football camps for a week in June of 2015, 2016 and 2017. I also was invited to a showcase in Highlands Ranch, Colorado for a Junior Day Football Camp last year. Last summer was busy with football. In July, I attended, along with my teammates, a 4 day camp at Colorado State University-Pueblo. Soon I will be going again to this years CSU Pueblo camp with my team.
My love for learning is not just on the field, since attending high school, I have taken college courses, AP classes and honor curriculum to challenge my mind. I have maintained a high level that I have recently been accepted into the National Honor Society. It has been an honor and a goal I have achieved. Since the beginning of 2018, I am also part of the Upward Bound program at Adams State University. I attended a month long summer semester getting college credit for Speech. While living on campus, I obtained the Director's Award Outstanding Student and had he opportunity to intern for the Sangre De Cristo National Heritage Area. It was a great experience to work for an important non-profit organization preserving our communities local heritage. If time will permit with football season upon us, I have been invited to be a youth ambassador upon my departure and as stated in their letter of reference.
Since moving to Colorado, my family and I have been involved with our community by helping at the community gardens, local homeless shelter, and local food movement. All of these experiences have made an impact on my goals to become a good citizen as I grow becoming a man.
My next goal is to play for a collegiate team upon graduation. I want to be at a college that has a passion for the game and an academic program that is just as challenging. I would like to major in Biology. Due to losing my father, my mother and I are starting anew. There is a financial need, so the desire is to go to college and graduate with a Bachelors.
I appreciate your time reading my accomplishments and goals. If you feel that I would become an asset to your football team, I look forward to connecting with you. Thank you, Alex Stokes
