Personal Statement
Playing the position of quarterback for the first time as a Freshman taught me a lot about myself and the game of football.
As the team leader, I learned that my ability to stay calm and focused on every play made a big difference with my teammates no matter what the score. When we were challenged as an offense, I kept the team focused on the next play instead of becoming frustrated by the last play. I've always played football with 100% effort. I found as quarterback, this motivates my teammates to give their best too.
Playing wide receiver and defensive back for six years helped me better understand the QB position. Knowing how to run routes helped me understand when a receiver ran a good route allowing him to create space between the defender. My experience playing defense helped me anticipate when DBs will break on the ball. This also helped my decision making as a QB.
As a Freshman, I still have work to do. I am committed to improving my fundamentals and strength to achieve my goal of playing football at the college level while I earn an advanced education. Off season training has already started and I can't wait until next year!
