Abbott comes from a family with a rich football legacy. His father, Scott Lockwood, was a High School All-American RB who set Colorado's all-time rushing record. Scott earned All-Pac 10 honors as a RB and kick returner at USC and played four seasons in the NFL after being drafted by the New England Patriots in 1992. Abbott’s grandfather, John Lockwood, played FB/LB for the University of Colorado in the early 1960s, as well as USC, and signed contracts with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Rams in 1965.
