My name is Joshua Macleod. I'm a football player at St Thomas More School in Connecticut and I'm originally from Canada. I have been attending school at St. Thomas More since September 2018. My goal is to become the best student-athlete I can become at the collegiate level, and I am determined to accomplish it.
I believe I can play wide receiver for any team in the country. I am 6'3 (with a wing span that equals 6'7) and 195 lbs. My high school team is currently the #2 ranked prep school in the state. I have played against some of the best competition in the country. Last year the senior defensive backs that I worked against in practice every day went to Penn State, Arizona, and Northern Illinois. I recently had my best game of the season against the #2 team in the country St. Frances Academy (8 catches on 8 targets, 120 yards, 1 TD). This year we also defeated Choate Rosemary Hall in the first game they had lost in 5 years. I was proud to score two important touchdowns during that game.
I finished the 2018/2019 academic year with a 3.5 GPA in my courses. I am on track for as good or better marks this year. Unfortunately some of my grades during my earlier years of high school were not as strong and have pulled down my GPA. In Canada our grades in the first two or three years of high school don't count towards our overall GPA and university applications. As a result of this I didn't always focus the way I should have. We also don't have SATs in Canada or anything similar, so standardized testing is new to me. This fall I went through testing for learning differences which will give me accommodations and more time when I write the SATs again in November and December which I believe will help to improve my score.
As I said earlier, I am determined to be a great student-athlete and will do whatever it takes to get that done. I hope to have the opportunity to accomplish my goals at your school and to excel as an athlete on your team.
