Hi. My name is Jewel Navalayo.
I emerged as a girl soccer player, navigating the dusty fields with resilience and passion, in my home country of Kenya in East Africa. My journey has not been about goals and victories; it became a profound experience of the challenges faced by talented girls in the midst of adversity. Playing alongside girls from the slums of Kibra in Nairobi, Kenya, I witnessed the stark realities that often led them into the hardships of early pregnancies and marriages. This experience ignited a vision within me - to rewrite the narrative for girl soccer in Africa. I am more than a midfielder and Defensive Midfielder; I am an advocate for change. Armed with the belief that exceptional talent can yield remarkable results, I am determined to break barriers and prove that the beautiful game is not limited by gender or circumstance. My goal is to empower young girls through soccer, providing them with a platform to rise above societal expectations. As a quick learner and a fierce competitor, I bring not only my skills on the field but also a commitment to uplift those around me. I am driven by the belief that my contribution will extend beyond the soccer pitch, creating a ripple effect of positive change for girls across the continent of Africa. With a GPA of 4.0 (unweighted), I will appreciate a program that will harness both my academic and sports abilities.
