Michael Hughes '13 Recruiting Profile

            My name is Michael C.R. Hughes I’m currently a senior this fall at Marmion Academy High School, a college preparatory school http://marmion.org located at 1000 Butterfield Road Aurora, Illinois 60502. I am an Army Junior ROTC Cadet. Marmion’s football team is led by Coach Dan Thorpe phone number (630) 897-6936 and email address [email protected]. In addition Dan Thorpe is the Director of Guidance for Marmion. I would like to be considered a recruit prospect during your recruiting process. My football playing experience spans eight years. I was introduced to football through a youth football league Aurora Superstars http://aurorasuperstars.com/ which evolved into playing in middle school and continued on to Marmion Academy High School. I’ve had the opportunity to be a starter on the defensive line for the past eight years. Currently my height is 5’11”, I weigh 230, bench press 300 lbs, and I squat 370 lbs. This past summer from July 09 through July 17, 2012 I had the opportunity to travel abroad on a mission trip with Marmion Academy High School to Quito, Ecuador in South America. I have contributed over two hundred and fifty hours of community service. Volunteering for events at my Church New Horizon Christian Fellowship, a homeless shelter also known as Hessed House, Bountiful Blessings Food Pantry and feeding the less fortunate on thanksgiving at Tapas Restaurant. In addition I volunteered for a 5K run to benefit 360 youth services. My extracurricular activities include a social club called Boys2Men which is a mentoring group for male students in high school. For additional conditioning I belong to Marmion’s weight-lifting club where I lift weights during season and off season. I work with a personal trainer through Get Fast Incorporated http://getfastinc.com/. I am interested in majoring in Business Management and or Mechanical Engineering.
