Sean Backer '16 Recruiting Profile

Hard work and dedication means everything to me. I started playing football for the Swedish club team ``Gothenburg Marvels´´ 4 years ago. At the time when I joined the team, I was small and lacked athleticism. I was constantly discouraged to keep playing, on the basis of my lack of physical intangibles. However,  this only motivated me to put in more hours at the gym and on the field and 2 years later I was recruited by the Swedish national team. Later on, In the spring of 2015, I participated in the U19 European championship and at that point I realized that hard work and dedication can help you achieve any goal.

As I enroll into college I would like to use that hard work and dedication in order to pursue a degree in biological sciences and in medical school (later on), as well as to represent my school athletically. It would be a dream come true if I could represent my future college on the football field.

Additionally, I am often involved in extra-curricular activities where I display leadership and teamwork. For instance, I am currently the president of my high school's student athletic union. As president, I am responsible for arranging different athletic events for the students as well as for managing the soccer and basketball team.

In short, the team that recruits me will get a dedicated, hard working and mature athlete who can display leadership and teamwork.
