Outstanding leaders demonstrate toughness and commitment to one’s team before themselves. I have exhibited these qualities while starting all 28 varsity games at outside and middle linebacker and totaling 352 tackles during my freshman and sophomore and junior seasons, I am a versatile multi-purpose athlete and voluntarily moved from my natural offensive position (RB/WR) to QB1 when injuries decimated our varsity team in 2013. I have been playing organized tackle football since the 3rd grade and am always striving to be a better player. Leadership means possessing year round dedication to excellence, through bettering yourself and those around you. My teammates and coaches have made me a permanent Team captain since my sophomore season. I was awarded 1st team all district linebacker my sophomore season even though my team did not win any district games. Last season as a junior my team was 6-4 and had its first winning season in 5 years and made the playoffs for the fist time in 11 years. I was awarded 1st team all district honors, 1st team all state (INA), All District Academic honors, and 2nd team Iowa Preps. I have shown this leadership in the classroom—maintaining one of the highest GPA’s in my graduating class—and weight room, while being a varsity letter-winner in three sports. My summers and off-seasons are spent honing my skills at camps such as Iowa State Camps, University of Iowa Camps, UNI Camp, 7on7 competition in Ames, Iowa Strength Training Camp, and many other camps and 7on7 tournaments. I am proud of the values my parents have instilled in me, and will continue working tirelessly to achieve my goals. My dream has always been to play college football at the highest possible level and I will work tirelessly to achieve that goal. My preference is to play for a larger school in the Midwest region, but I am committed to researching a variety of different institutions which also have solid academic programs. My intended major is Engineering, and my athletic goals are to be a four-year varsity starter for my high school, help my team improve on last years success and lead them to a state championship, and then move on to play college football, striving for excellence both on and off the field. .
