Personal Statement

My name is Rex Johnsen and I'm a Junior at Logan-Magnolia High School(IA); graduating in 2022.  I'm a multi-sport athlete who participates in football, wrestling and track.  In the classroom, I have a 3.6/40 GPA and plan to take the ACT in the Fall.  My goal, which I focus and work on every day, is to play college football.  I believe I have the size, athleticism, work ethic and character to be a great college football player & teammate.

On the football field I play on both sides of the ball; playing OT and DE/DT.  Our football team finished 8-2 my Junior year; we were beaten in the quarter-finals of state.  After the season was over, I was 1st Team All-State and received other 1st Team accolades in the conference/district for my play.  I've been playing tackle football since the 2nd grade and my love of the sport continues to grow.  With the success I've had on the field, it only makes we want to work harder for my team and also, to fulfill my dream of playing collegiate football.

I'd also like to mention my wrestling accomplishments, as I believe the sport of wrestling has greatly helped me mentally and physically on the football field.  I finished my Junior year as the Iowa High School State Runner-up.  It was tough getting beat in the finals, but it will only make me work harder to be at the top of the podium next year.  I started wrestling in kindergarten and have wrestled all over the country, as a youth and teenager.  I've won 3 Iowa AAU titles and won Tulsa Nationals.  I believe traveling the United States and wrestling the best kids in the country has helped mold who I am as a competitor, and I thrive on those opportunities.

I'm a very outgoing guy and enjoy being around my teammates.  In my spare time, I enjoy working out, wake surfing, wake boarding, water skiing and riding my dirt bike.  I'm also close to my family and enjoy spending time with them.  Also, during the past 3 summers, I've worked for Wingert Construction framing and roofing houses.

As I mentioned above, my goal is to play college football and I believe I have the size, athleticism and mind-set to exceed at the next level.  I'm currently 6' 5", 275 and believe I'm a long ways from full physical maturity.  I'm working out daily and plan to attend football camps this summer.  Thanks for taking the time to look at my profile and videos; I hope you like what you see.
