Personal Statement
As a two-time All-State and state championship football player, I have loved football since I first stepped out onto the field for peewee flag football. In youth tackle football through my freshman year of high school when I earned varsity playing time, I rotated between running back and defensive back. But during the summer before my sophomore year of high school, I had a noticeable growth spurt, packing on 60 pounds of muscle. I moved to the O-line and D-line where I relearned the game of football from another view, a powerful one where I have been blessed to excel. As a senior, I was unanimously selected as team captain and not only play both the O-line and D-line, I'm on kick-off and punt return after recording a 4.99 on the 40-yard-dash. For my junior year, I was named to Iowa All-State Football Team through the Des Moines Register, First Team All-State Defense, First Team All-District Defense and our 2A PCM Mustangs football team clinched the championship for the first time ever. It was an incredible season. I hope to channel my passion for football, my high academic achievement and compassion for helping others into a collegiate football career where I can study pre-med or a similar field with the hope of becoming a chiropractor or physical therapist. I am active in my church, youth group, and with mission projects, belong to my school's Key Club, National Honor Society, Honor Roll, chorus, school musical, track, and switched from basketball to wrestling for my junior year and my first time ever wrestling where I advanced to districts. I hope that I am a great fit for a collegiate football program that appreciates academics, athletics, morals, character, and ethics.
