Personal Statement
First, I would like to introduce myself to you. My name is Mason Player, and I am a high school sophomore and scholar athelete at Ladue Horton Watkins High School in St. Louis, Missouri. I have always dreamed of competing in a sport at the division I level, and as I continued to grow so has my passion for running track. One thing that I am proud to share, beyond my academic and athletic accomplisments, is that my parents, teachers, and coaches have noticed that I am a very hard working, responsible, and respectful young man. All stated that I was a perfect role model and leader to my peers. Personally, with handling school, pratices and meets I learned better ways to manage my time and stay focused. Every practice was basically a tryout for me knowing that as a freshman you have to earn relays and open spots. Being on varsity is not a given no matter how much talent you have and I learned that this year.
Right now I am very lucky and blessed to be in the postion winning the state championship as a junior. Training with the seniors and coaches have helped me improve as a player, but has made my technique a lot better. As a three sport athlete who is able to maintain good grades, and compete at a high level of sports, I belive that I have the ability to compete at an even higher level in college and would love to earn a spot on your team.
