Personal Statement


My name is Jake Gibbs, and I am a 6’0’ 185 pound senior playing middle linebacker and tight end for my high school football team. As I begin my final year of high school football, I look forward to the possibility of playing in college. I have played tackle or flag football for the last 10 years, and I enjoy it more every year. When I run out onto the field, I am not only working to make myself better but also my team. I am a well-rounded three season athlete. I play for the high school basketball team and played on the varsity team as a sophomore, lettering my sophomore year as well. I also ran track in the spring of my sophomore year and lettered.


For the past three years, I have started for our varsity football program and have been captain of the defense during my sophomore and junior years, and was recently elected captain for my senior year.  I have been named player of the game for defense multiple times. I am not only a three year starter, but I lettered as a freshman, sophomore, and junior.


It is my desire to play linebacker or tight end in college. I am searching for the best blend of high level football and academic excellence. I love to compete and I am an AP student wanting to be academically challenged in engineering and/or math program. I play, practice, and study at one speed - full speed. My main attributes are my work ethic, strength, and desire to win. I love to hit on the field and spend time in the weight room. I am strong in my beliefs and of good moral character. I know that I will make a good addition to the right school's football program and overall college community.
