My name is Charlie Sciortino and I am a sophomore at Webster Thomas High School in Webster, New York. I have carried a 4.0 GPA throughout middle and high school and have received three scholar athlete awards while participating in varsity track. I started varsity track in 8th grade and played my first year of varsity football in 10th grade. My passion for sports and competition began early, starting with flag football at six years old. My coach gave me the nickname "Crazy Legs'' which has stuck with me throughout the years. At ten years old I discovered the long jump after I jumped and cleared a 13 foot mat while at my summer park and rec program. From there, my love for competition and pushing myself further grew and grew. During the summers I played centerfield on a local travel baseball team and loved being able to track fly balls. As a 9th grader I broke the long jump freshman record with a long jump of 20ft 1in, and the 100 meter dash freshmen record with a FAT time of 11.54 seconds. At my high school football combine I ran a 4.79 (laser timed) 40 yard dash and my vertical was 30 inches. My parents have always instilled the importance of having a strong work ethic, and instilled that "attitude is everything". Sports has taught me adversity, how to be a team player, and how to take care of one another on and off the field. I hope to carry all I have learned into my goal of playing sports in college (specifically football or track) and continuing with my interest in science. I am excited for the future and look forward to all that may come.
