My name is Brendan Barry. I am a 6’5’, 220 lb junior tight end who has been a varsity starter since the 9th grade. Due to my size and strength I earned a considerable amount of playtime as a tight end and a defensive end. While I enjoy playing basketball and have been successful on the court, my true passion is playing football. I am not afraid to hit and enjoy the payoff that comes from training and hard work. Ironically my basketball playing has enhanced my football skills, techniques and footwork. Dedicated, motivated, coachable, and respectful are all terms that describe me. Setting goals and pushing myself are qualities that make me stand out as an athlete.
A highlight of my sophomore year was at our first game when I intercepted the ball for a 60 yard pick-6 to kick off the season. Having been the only underclassman brought up to varsity and being a starter for these past 2 years, I had to prove myself worthy of the position every day. I strive to do my very best every time I step on the field.
Academically, I also have applied my focused work ethic and am proud to have earned honor roll and high honor roll for every quarter of 9th and 10th grade. I am determined to make my 11th grade year to be my best yet. When the COVID pandemic shut down everything, I transformed my garage into a gym, followed a strict food plan and made a point of keeping up with my daily workout and training throughout the closure. This has paid off in that I am stronger and more driven than ever to be the best player on the field.
My goal is to take my football skills and passion to the next level and play in college. I hope to find a college/university where I can grow academically while playing football and becoming part of quality athletic program.
