I was a junior and continuing to grow when I really started thinking about college football. The summer before my senior year I went to my first football camp held by Sports International at Univ. North Texas. Coming from an 8 man football background, I wasn't sure if I would be a good fit for college level football. That being said, I ended up rising to the occasion. By the end of lineman camp, I was awarded the Grid Iron Elite Award. After receiving the camp award, I was encouraged by camp college coaches to stay for the next camp (Michael Irvin's Play Makers) where I would get chance to scrimmage more. I was able to stay and receive more guidance from camp coaches and received the Grid Iron Elite award for this camp as well.
The number one thing that drives me is being a part of something bigger than myself. Being a part of a team is awesome because it's not just about me. It's about not letting the team down and helping the team succeed. I realize the value of an an education and I am excited about the opportunity to earn a college degree while competing in the sport that I love.
