Personal Statement
I first started participating in organized athletics at the age of five years old. I played football, basketball, and baseball throughout my elementary and middle school years. Athletics has taught me discipline, team work, competitiveness and how to work hard at everything I do. It has also taught me to set goals and how to put a plan in place to achieve them.
I broke my arm during the last football game of my 8th grade year. As a result, I had to missed the first half of my basketball season. Not being able to play due to my injury, I was out of all athletic activities for 2 months. I quickly learned how important athletics is to me and how I enjoy competing. In basketball I became a varsity starter as a sophomore and remained a starter every year. As a freshman, I made the varsity track team and was a State Qualifier in the 400 meter. As a sophomore in track our 4X400 relay team qualified for state. I was unable to compete in the 400 meter in State that year due to an injury. As a Junior I was the State Silver Medalist in the 400 meter and 11th in State Meet in the 100 meter. As a Senior I am the starting running back and strong safety on the Varsity football team.
I know that I am a hard worker, a leader, a great team mate and a good representation for my team and school both on and off the court or field. I am looking for a college that will allow me to use my gifts and talents to represent them the way they desire and deserve to be represented. In addition, I am looking for a college that will help me continue to grow as a young adult and to help me pursue my academic and athletic college career. I believe that I would be an excellent addition to your institution and program.
