My name is Justin Tharp. I am a Senior of the 2014 class at Thomas-Fay-Custer High School in Thomas, Oklahoma. I am a 4 year Kicker/Punter for my varsity team. I have kicked under the personal coaching of Scott Blanton (University of Oklahoma - 1991-1994) for two years, and Uwe von Schamann (University of Oklahoma - 1975-1978) for six years. I strive hard to be a Christian first, and athlete second. Without God, my family, and my friends, I wouldn't be the person that I am today. I work hard in the classroom as well as on the field, because I know that at some point, football can and will end. I have been part of two State Semi Finalist teams, one State Quarterfinalist team, and a second round playoff team, so I understand the dedication it takes to be the best. During my high school career my teams have gone 47-6, only losing two regular season games in four years. I am predominantly a kicker but am working hard on my punting as well.
During the summer of my Senior year I tore my right quadricep. Throughout the entire 2013 season it was torn, however, I went to physical therapy three days a week and kicked on Friday nights. I did what I had to do to help my team. Now that the season is over I am able to focus on the healing process. My physical therapist and doctors have all told me that I will be able to kick by May at the very latest. I am taking this rehab process very seriously, because I know that if I don't then I won't get the chance that I feel like I deserve.
