Personal Statement
Sport: Football
Position: Quarterback, Defensive Back, Special Teams High School: Barrington High School, Rhode Island
Graduation Year: 2013
I am a 6' 2.5" quarterback from Barrington, Rhode Island and I will graduate in 2013. I have played football for Barrington High School for 3 years and started the last two years at the varsity level. BHS is a Division I football school that competes with many of the private schools that recruit their players from around our state. We won the Super Bowl my freshman year.
I am an honor roll student with a 3.3 GPA. I am trying to bring that up to a 3.5 this year, while taking many difficult classes such as trigonometry, pre-calculus and chemistry. I am looking for a college with a first-rate program in Biology. I am interested in a Division I or II school with an outstanding football program. I would love the opportunity to play at quarterback. I am extremely accurate, with a quick release, a strong arm and excellent fundamental skills.
I realize that I have started this recruiting process late. I was recognized by attending the NUC combines in 2011. I made it to the Ultimate 100 in Delaware and then to the Elite 100 in Oklahoma, summer 2011 where I competed with the best of the best. I participated in the Nike SPARQ combine in Philadelphia, with a rating of 108.33, making the All-Combine team and placing 3rd out of almost 1200 participants. I have just been invited to try out for the Elite 11 on ESPN in July. I am a team player, a leader by example and I am not afraid to work hard. I am self-motivated and not afraid of a challenge or competition. I have the ability to manage my time, set goals and prioritize. I make good decisions both on and off the field and am accountable for my actions. I am willing to work harder than any other student/athlete.
I am currently training 3-4 hours a day on strength, speed, accuracy and fundamentals. I am always learning and watching film. I am a student of the game. I just finished reading the book Eyes Up by Coach Terry Shea. I throw the football between 200 and 300 times every day. I believe I have improved a great deal since my last highlight video in 2010. I was able to put together a highlight video for my 2011 season despite missing 3 games with a high ankle sprain and sharing time with a senior at the QB position.
I would love to play at my highest ability in college while attending a school that offers me a first class education and a complete college experience. I want to lead a team to a championship. It's what I play the game for.
Thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement and I look forward to being contacted by and contacting coaches and moving forward with this process.
