Joshua Rowland '12 Recruiting Profile

I am Josh Rowland. I am 6' and weigh 168. I run a 4.49 fourty with a 35.2 vertical. Due to parents job I transferred to AAAA Wren High School in Piedmont, SC for my senior year. I believe this experience will help me to better adapt to college in that I had to adjust to a new school, new coaches and new teammates. I played varsity football since my freshman year for 4 time South Carolina State AAA Champion Greer High School before transferring to Wren. I played free safety at Wren and weakside corner at Greer. I can also play WR, return punts and kickoffs. At Greer I tied for the team lead in INTs my sophomore year and led the team in INTs my junior year.
I was named by WYFF TV as 1 of 4 Top Area Defensive Backs for the Upstate of SC. I was the only junior to be named. I was also the only football player at Greer to letter in both football and baseball since my freshman year. In June 2011 I was named as one of the Top Twenty WRs in South Carolina and I was named to the top ten list as number 7 DB by SC Prep Nation. 
At Wren I was named by SC Varsity as Upstate Player of the Week for week 4 after my game against 3rd ranked Greenwood. WYFF TV named me as 1 of the Top Area ATHs.
My stats as free safety for Wren were my best ever.
I had 81 tackles-36 solo and 45 assists
8 interceptions with 2 being returned for touchdowns
2 blocked punts.
I also returned punts and kick offs.
I am a leader on and off the field for my team and my school. I give my all in everything I do and I always want to get better than I was the day before. My character is what has made me the person and player I am today. I understand the game of football and the coaches often call on me to help guide the younger players. It is my dream to play at the next level and to be able get my college degree and play against the best of the best. I am open to any school that will provide me a GREAT education and allow me the opportunity to play the sport I love. I have worked hard for this opportunity. I have the character, I have the grades, I have the talent. but most of all I am a WINNER.
