John Rex Dockery '26 Recruiting Profile

Football has always been part of my DNA.  My grandfather was the head football coach at both Texas Tech and the University of Memphis as well as an assistant coach at Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and Georgia Tech.  I grew up on the sidelines of high school football games accompanying my father who was the team sports doctor.  As you can imagine, football has always been a massive focus in my life and that of my family.  With this background, I have used this unique experience to help lead my team with positive energy, charisma, and a disciplined focus on the playbook and weekly game plan.  I feel like I can inspire my teammates to play hard and lift them when they need assistance.  My teammates often rely on me when they are confused about their positions and roles in different plays and schemes.   Because of my lifelong love for football, and the joy I receive in both being part of a football team atmosphere and helping others learn about football, I also want to become a football coach like my grandfather after I finish my football career.  I plan to bring these qualities of athleticism, natural football instincts, high football IQ, dedication, and leadership to a team at the college level.
