Willie Phillips '21 Recruiting Profile

I am a two-sport athlete, baseball and football, with aspirations of taking my talents to the next level. 

My most dominant sport and most preferred sport is football. I played quarterback during my freshman year.

In my sophomore year on JV, I moved to defense as an outside linebacker. I averaged 4.5 tackles and 1 forced fumble per game. 

Going into my junior year, I prepared myself by playing 7on7 with the KB3 organization where we earned the rank of 5th in our region for 18U. I also participated in summer workouts at Davis High School and earned a spot on the varsity team as the starting inside linebacker. I averaged 4 tackles per game(I was out with an injury for 3 out of 10 games).

Now for my senior year, I will be back as an outside linebacker with some plays as a safety on the varsity team. I have faithfully workout throughout the pandemic. I went from 177 to 205 in weight. I’m stronger and faster.

As for academics, I am looking for a well-balanced college experience with an exemplary program in mechanical engineering. 

However, wherever I go, I would like to have a direct impact on the program.
