Kael Carney '25 Recruiting Profile

I would like to continue my basketball career in college, at the highest level possible and preferably at school where I can pursue a business or science degree. I believe I would be a great candidate for any team, based on the traits described below.

Athletics: I have elite level speed that I use to create space and advantages for me and my teammates. My speed also allows me to play lockdown on-ball defense and get into passing lanes. I have a scorer’s mentality with the ability to score at all three levels. I am one of the top 3 point and mid-range shooters in Colorado. I have played basketball since I was 4 and I have been coached by some of the most respected coaches in Colorado, including 4-time state champion coach Joe Ortiz, at ThunderRidge High School. Due to my training and instincts, I have a strong basketball IQ and an advanced understanding of my role and the roles of my teammates. I am known for moving without the ball and for finding open spots on the floor that allow me to score. I have track record of being a top contributor on highly successful teams.  I play for the back-to-back defending 5A high school state champions.

Character: I’m a team player, I’m coachable, and I take leadership roles on and off the court. I hate to lose. The bigger the stage, the better I play. The higher the pressure, the better I perform. At the end of a game, if my coaches need someone to make a play or hit the free throw…I have always been the guy.  Finally, I am resilient in the face of any challenge…I will always get off the ground and come back for more.

Academics: My favorite subjects are math, science and history. I currently take honors classes. I take academics very seriously, just like basketball. I’d like to pursue a business or science degree in college.
