Personal Statement

I have touched a basketball earliest at 4 years old in SA, Texas. Moving back to Canada I started to study and watch other basketball players. In grade 4 I became even more desperate to play in the NBA. Such a big dream I thought, I looked on youtube and continued my study.  When I learned something I took my basketball outside for a little action and practiced. I expanded my IQ and learned how to be an IDEAL leader. Of course I had people tell me that I should give up and try something else because of my height. I just stare at them and say "I'll prove you wrong", I've always been getting hate from others, especially on the court. I take those words and use them as my strength I PROVE, THAT I AM A HARD WORKER! I began breaking out in grade 6, as the shortest player trying out for my school basketball team, sure all the grade 8's at the time were plenty fast and tall. I made it to the practice squad and never gave up. Many said the practice squad was a waste of time. I took it as the best thing to happen, so I practiced all that season became better. The year after my coach told me about a travel basketball team U13, It was my chance I tried out and OUTWORKED the majority every practice I may not have been the best at that moment, I sure showed my coach my strength. I had many weaknesses, I only shot 3 pointers back then because I wasn't confident enough to drive. What I was, was an OUTSTANDING DEFENDER. Many opponents tell me "Do you ever give up?", "You play the sport with so much heart". I am aggressive on court. which made me center in my grade 8 year for my school, I was not the tallest I'll tell you that. That year I learned how to drive with contact on guys 5-8 inches taller  on me and drew fouls. I get names like, "TANK", "BEAST"  and " Small Big man". Now in grade 9, I'm my teams leader, I practice 5-6 days a week and if not in my school in open gymnasiums. To make it to the NBA I have to make many decisions because there are so many paths I can take. Time is running out so I don't want to waste a second. I've always been getting good grades growing up so that has never been a problem for me. I am in my schools I.B program (International Baccalaureate) way more advanced then Academic classes and I average a 3.5 GPA. I've grown in a Christian household so GOD comes first, then my family, but basketball will always be next. I'ts hard to imagine my life without it, so I am trying my best to create a life with it. Senior year right now. I have learned a lot and I’m ready to go far with my team this winter.
