As a 6’3” freshman, I started on the sophomore team and was the leader on the team as well as their best all-around player. I’m dressing Varsity during our State Tournament run and learning a ton from the upper classmen and the whole experience itself.
For my sophomore team I started at the guard/forward position, but I am capable and experienced at playing all five positions. I am the go to guy on the team and although I’m naturally a facilitator I am working towards getting that scorer mentality. In the 2013-2014 season I averaged 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists.
I’m also a multi-sport athlete. I play football; free safety, corner back, quarterback, and receiver. I also play soccer at the mid/forward position.
School is a major priority to my parents as well as me. I maintain a 3.5 GPA and am involved with mentoring upcoming students, African-American leadership groups, and various community service projects.
Some qualities about me are I’m a hard worker, determined, focused, driven, and coachable. All of those things I have learned from my mom, whether by her actions or words. I’m a family guy. I live with my mom and step-dad and he has also played a major role in my life teaching me the intangibles to become a man.
I am a team player. I am athletically gifted. I see the game and let it come to me. I get it’s about the team and getting the win rather than me getting “mine” and trying to look cool. I’ve had the opportunity to experience a lot of things and learn many lessons in my life and communication is the key. Laziness is the cancer to success. “Anything in life worth doing is worth overdoing, moderation is for cowards.”
