First off, thank you coaches for taking time out of your busy schedules to follow me as a prospect. My name is Conner Wright, I'm a 6'6 combo G/F who's just completed my junior season at St. Joseph High School in St. Joseph, MI, where I live with my parents and two siblings. I have a brother Brad, who is a recent graduate of Western Michigan University, along with a sister Maddie who's currently a sophomore at Lake Michigan College. I'd like you to know that being a smart player who's unselfish enough to make all of my teammates better and win is what is most important to me. I've been a two-year starter at St Joe for coach Gregg Schaffer. This past season, I was one out of only two juniors in our conference, to be voted by our leagues coaches to our 1st team all-conference and all-district teams. We are a Class A school, the state's largest school's and most competitive, along with being members of the tough SW Michigan Athletic Conference. Several of our members include recent back-to-back men's state champion Kalamazoo Central, 2019 state champion Benton Harbor along with Battle Creek Central, Portage Central & Portage Northern. In last years Covid shortened season with minimal practice time, we still managed a 10-6 season with a very young team.
Skill set wise, I’m an outstanding shooter with great range. I'm an excellent mid-range shooter as well, with an excellent post-game. I play with my head up, have outstanding vision on the court and am a willing passer. I have a good handle which at 6'6, makes me an extremely difficult matchup for opponent's defense. My coaches trust me to make correct decisions with the ball and often use me to push the ball up court off rebounds and break an opponent's full court pressure. Defensively, I continue the hard work of becoming a great defender at every position on the court. My coaches like my aggressiveness on the ball, and communication in our various help defensive schemes.
Here are my final 2021 HS Jr season per game averages (wearing masks while playing was mandatory the entire season): PPG 13.2 (2pt 53%, 3pt 36% Ft 78%), RPG 7.9, APG 3.0, SPG 1.5 SPG BPG1.9 BPG.
My 17u AAU team was IABC Red (Indiana Attack) out of the South Bend/Ft Wayne IN area. My coach was once again Scott Francour. I had a great AAU season and continued building on last year's successful 16U season. This past summer we competed in the consolidated NY2LA/Adidas Gauntlet/EYBL tournaments. If you'd like to view one of my past summer AAU games, most of them were archived on Baller TV. My 17u Baller highlight video is uploaded on their site now. It will also be on this site within the next few days. Here are the archived tourney's names and dates:
(April )16-18 - NY2LA Spring Xtravaganza, Westville, IN - Apr 23-25 NY2LA /EYBL Grassroots Showcase, Louisville, Ky (May) 14-16 - Havoc in The Heartland tourney, Fishers, IN - Memorial Day weekend Run-n-Slam tourney, Ft Wayne, IN (July) 8-11 - Ballin' under 1 Roof tourney, Louisville, Ky - 16-18 Circle City Shootout, Fishers, IN - 23-25 Preps Hoops 2K21 tourney, Indianapolis
My final 17u per game 2021 AAU averages: PPG 16.7 (2pt 55%, 3pt 38%, Ft 81% ), RPG 11.2, APG 4.8, SPG 1.8, BPG 2.2
Academically, I'm working very hard and consistently improving my grades and expecting my SAT results within the next 4 to 5 weeks. I'm really looking forward to my senior year and seeing all of my classmates again now, that the constant back and forth of remote online and hybrid live classes due to Covid, are finally over. I understand maintaining good grades is as important, if not more so than basketball. I am already registered with the NCAA eligibility center.
Finally, I want you to know that I understand the importance of showing the utmost respect at all times to everyone, but especially my family, teachers, coaches, and classmates. Thank you once again for your interest in me as a potential student-athlete in your program. I wish all of you good health, and all of your teams a very successful season!
Sincerely,
Conner Wright
