Hello, my name is Conner Wright. First off, thank you to every coach taking time out of your busy schedules to follow me as a prospect on this site. Special thanks to those coaches who have watched me play at my AAU tournament games and at your summer camps. last spring and summer. I had a successful sophomore season last winter as a 6'6 varsity starter for St. Joseph High School in St. Joseph, MI. I live there with my mother, father as well as two siblings. My brother Brad recently graduated from Western Michigan University and my sister Maddie is currently a Lake Michigan College sophomore. I will be graduating from St. Joseph High in June of 2022. I'm thrilled my 2021 junior season was just allowed to start Feb 9th and our early record this first week is 3-0.
My new AAU team this past summer was 16u IABC (Indiana Attack) out of the South Bend/Ft Wayne IN area. I had a very successful 16u season (17.3ppg (3pt-40%, ft-85%), 11.5rb 5.0ast and 2.5blk. My coach is Scott Francour and he has been the past five seasons with our former team, MBA Select. Last summer I competed in the consolidated NY2LA/Adidas Gauntlet/EYBL tourney scheduled in the state of Indiana all summer. The tourneys were the Indiana Elite Invite in Fishers IN, the Prep Hoops Showcase in Lafayette, IN, the Indiana Elite Midwest Invitational in Westfield, IN, the Circle City Summer Shootout in Fishers/Noblesville IN, along with the GRBNA Nationals in Ft. Wayne IN and the Max Preps Hoop Showcase in Lafayette, IN.
I'm excited for all of you coaches to have an opportunity to view my video highlights from this past summer's AAU 16U season, along with my 2019-20 HS season highlights. I've also included my 2019 MBA Select 2019 Adidas Gauntlet 15u tourney highlights here. Now that our 2021 high school basketball season has been allowed to begin, I will soon have video from this current season to view as well
As a 6'6 sophomore on last season's 2019-20 SJ varsity team, I started for coach Gregg Schaffer. Our team competes in Michigan's Class A division (largest schools) and is a member of the tough SW Michigan Athletic Conference (SMAC), with members including Kalamazoo Central, Battle Creek Central, and 2018 State Champion Benton Harbor. Last season as sophomore, our record was 14-7. I played mainly the 3 and 4 positions, but also the 2 and 5 spots as game situations changed. I averaged 10.3 ppg (2 pt 53% - 3pt 35%, Ft-78%) 5.5 reb pg 2.8 assist pg, 2.0 blocks playing 14 mpg. As previously mentioned, our 2021 season, my junior year, has just begun on Feb 9. My team this first week is 3-0 and my early stats are 17.2 ppg 8.8 rpg 3.1 assists pg 2.3 steal pg and 2.3 blocks pg. For the coaches who've not yet seen me play in person, I'm a very good shooter with deep 3pt range, with an excellent mid-range and post-game. I see the entire court very well, I'm a very unselfish, willing passer with a very good handle. On defense, I'm working hard to become a great defender everywhere on the court. My coaches trust me to guard all positions and like my aggressiveness on the ball defensively and awareness with our help defensive schemes. I'm asked to break our opponent's pressure because of my ability to make correct decisions with the ball. I've grown an inch over the past year and now at 6'6, I'm always working hard to improve my strength, agility, and speed, along with my shooting and handle.
Also, I play wideout on our varsity football team. I enjoy football, but I love basketball and am constantly working to improve my basketball skills, even during the football season. Academically, I'm constantly working successfully to improve my grades and I'm even more focused now, while the remote and in-school learning back and forth is in place currently due to COVID. I know concentrating on my school work and maintaining good grades is as important, if not more than basketball, because I plan on attending a great school in the fall of 2022. I have taken all the college prep classes available to me in my freshman and sophomore years and will continue in my upcoming junior year. I am already registered with the NCAA eligibility center.
Finally, I want all of you to know that I understand the importance of showing the utmost respect at all times to everyone, but especially my family, teachers, coaches, and classmates. I'm grateful for those coaches with whom I've begun developing relationships. I'm excited as well to find out more about potential opportunities available at any program that thinks enough of me to reach out. It's still early in my recruiting process, so over the next two years, I'll be working hard to maintain and improve my grades, as well as improving my basketball skills. I wish all of you good health and all of your teams, a very successful season.
