My greatest basketball and high school memory was when my team won the county tournament championship. As the year prior when I saw the disappointment in the senior class after losing in the tournament, it made me want to work harder to win the tournament so I would never have to experience what they felt. What drew me to the game of basketball was my father, after seeing his photos of him playing against other men in Europe it aspired me to want to be like him. Surprisingly, after playing basketball it made me realize that one of the greatest parts of it was getting to know your teammates and coaches. Through the game I've been able to learn a tremendous amount about leadership and character, and what it actually means to be a winning player. Whether that's the player who scores twenty a night, or the player who is constantly trying his hardest in practice to make his teammates better. Most importantly, what I've been taught by my parents is that if I don't receive great grades in the classroom then the basketball will stop bouncing for me. Therefore, my goal in high school was always to be a great student athlete that always puts school ahead of sports. For that reason I wish to one day play for an institution with high academic standards and a great basketball program.
