Personal Statement
With my Mom being a coach and my older siblings participating in basketball, I grew up in the gym. I began participating at age 4 at the local Boys & Girls Club. I began playing at a competitive level by age 7. The elementary school I attended offered competitive basketball beginning in the third grade. My 7th and 8th grade year, our team advanced to the ORES State Tournament where I was named to the All-Tournament Team both years. I have been a varsity starter my entire high school career beginning my freshman year.
My ability and love for the game prompted me to play AAU basketball which is very competitive. I am currently a member of 2016 Oklahoma Wolfpack. We have traveled to many states to participate in tournaments.
Basketball, as in all sports, taught me discipline, respect, sportsmanship and how to accept constructive criticism and make adjustments in order for my team to succeed.
My parents, coaches and I agree that academics are my number one priority and participating in basketball is a reward for successful academic achievement.
I set my goals high many years ago. With my parents, teachers and coaches help, I began doing everything possible to reach them. This required spending many hours studying, along with extra hours in the gym working on all aspects of the game. I believe my goals are near and very reachable.
I believe I have the talent to compete for a college team, the character, work-ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on your program. I know I have what it takes to be a leader on your team.
