Dear Coach,
I am Ethan Wolgemuth and I consider myself to be a highly dedicated and hard working individual. Standing tall at 6'7" and weighing 215 lbs., I bring a formidable presence to the C/PF position. My height, combined with my strong build, allows me to dominate the paint both offensively and defensively. I take pride in being the anchor of the team's interior, using my physicality to secure rebounds, protecting the rim and imposing my will in the post. I am constantly working to improve my strength, agility, and vertical leap to excel in these aspects of the game. I try to get into the weight room a minimum of 4 times a week in order to improve my strength on the court.
Currently, I play basketball for Chambersburg Area School District and Team Pennsylvania 17U Blue Team coached by Tony Morgan as my AAU team for the Spring/Summer. Information regarding the team, coach and our tournament schedule can be found here: https://www.teampahoops.com/boys-blue-11th-17u-2/. Additionally, this summer I earned my Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid and started a job at our local YMCA Lifeguarding. I'm also a multi-sport athlete that plays football at the TE/DE positions.
My main attributes are my work ethic, persistence, drive, strength, and desire to win. My basketball Coach told me that I'm humble which I consider to be a compliment and how I was raised by my family. I am always the first one in the gym arriving an hour early to get in additional skills work and the last one to leave, constantly striving to improve and expand my basketball IQ. In basketball, I love contributing in a team sport and thrive in an environment with positive team culture. I have good moral character and like to show my coaches that I can meet their expectations on and off the court.
In my life, I've had to work hard for all of my achievements. This has taught me to become more resilient and to accept any setbacks as challenges and opportunities rather than defeats. I can be more of an introvert and quiet at times, but my mind is always working. I'm a thinker that practices visualization while off the court, always running plays through my mind and working to improve. I am committed to pushing my boundaries and embracing the challenges that come my way. I also work very hard in the off-season and maintain a consistent schedule of basketball workouts and weight training tailored for basketball.
Off the court, I prioritize academics and personal growth. I understand the importance of balance and strive to maintain a high standard to always do well in school. As a student athlete, I'm committed to excelling both academically and athletically, as I believe that discipline is crucial to achieving success.
Coach, I believe that my combination of physical prowess, unwavering dedication, and commitment to teamwork makes me an ideal candidate for your basketball program. I'm ready to embrace the challenges and contribute to the success of your team in any way possible. Given the opportunity, I am confident that I can make a meaningful impact both on and off the court, representing your program with pride and integrity.
Thank you for your consideration!
Ethan Wolgemuth
