Alexander Leamon '21 Recruiting Profile

My name is Alex Leamon and I am a senior at Mount Mansfield Union High School in Jericho, Vermont, where I have been on the honor roll every semester. I have played basketball since I was five years old; playing on Rec teams since third grade and transitioning to AAU and school teams in sixth grade. I used to play both baseball and soccer in addition to basketball, but playing hoops won over my heart and is truly my passion. I was a starter for my JV team my freshmen and sophomore years, and I was excited for a breakout sophomore year season. Tragically, I tore my meniscus in our second game, and I missed the rest of my sophomore year. Although I am fully healthy now, the beginning of junior year was focused on completing my recovery and getting back to full strength and speed. I am hesitant to acknowledge an injury in this profile, yet I have come to understand that although the injury and time lost on the court was devastating for me, this experience has only inspired me to work harder and believe everything happens for a reason. My main strengths on the court are my leadership attributes, defense, shooting, basketball IQ, ability to get others involved in the offense, and being a hard worker. My eighth grade and sophomore years I was a team captain (and I hope to be again this year!) and I always make sure to lead by example and be a role model for those less experienced and confident than I. I am different from other players because I am willing to put the work in. I love the grind; I love to work out and do all the little gritty things to make me a better player. I’m willing to make the sacrifices needed in order to succeed; dieting, spending time in the gym, working out, etc. I pride myself on my work ethic and mindset and being able to impact the game in every way. I might not be the tallest or highest profile player, but I will be the hardest worker, and always give 100% on and off the court.
