Although I haven't been playing for a very long time, lacrosse has become one of the most important things in my life. In seventh grade, I was forced by my dad to start playing. One of my friends told me that her brother had broken his collarbone playing, and I wanted to back out as soon as I heard that. But, my dad made me play and I am 100% grateful that he didn't let me quit. I'd actually love to play boys lacrosse now if I could. Living in Vermont, there aren't very many opportunities for young lacrosse players. Also, being as focused on school as I can be doesn't allow a lot of time for lacrosse clubs, showcases, combines, etc. But, I'm always looking for the next thing I can do to improve my lacrosse skills. Last season (2019) I was the defensive MVP, I had the most ground-balls on the team (with 42), I had the most goals by a defender (with 7), and I was the only player pulled up for the playoffs.
Academics wise, I want to go to a college that is best for my future, which is something I've been focusing on for a long time. Currently, I'm attending the Health Sciences Academy at Burlington Technical Center. I would like to major in nursing. I've Highest Honors for eleven straight quarters while balancing lacrosse, school, and work. I also was offered a spot on the National Honors Society (twice) and the National Technical Honors Society, but unfortunately, I had to turn it down because of the time commitment.
My high school, Mount Mansfield Union, was ranked the #1 high school in Vermont this year (2020) by US News. Article Link: https://www.usnews.com/education/best-high-schools/vermont
The amount of playing time I have or whatever division I play in doesn't matter to me. As long as I'm learning to do something I love while playing the sport that I love so much.
