Cody Lucas '11 Recruiting Profile

My name is Cody Lucas and I have been playing basketball since I was 8 years old. Since then I have loved the game. I am a 6'4" forward who lives in Fredericksburg, Virginia that plays basketball everyday that I can whether it's at a team practice, after school in the gym, open gym, at the fitness center, or at home. Playing on a number of teams including parks and rec, Upwards, School teams and Travel teams has taught me to be a team player that leads others on and off the court. In middle school I played as a center but most recently I enjoy playing in the forward position. I am versatile and very coachable. Every coach that I have ever played for says that I have the best court awareness than any player they have ever seen or coached. Basketball is as much a mental game as physical and that has helped me a lot on the court when I can out think my opponent such as reading screens, getting open, or making a game changing play. I am currently playing for the Riverbend High School and our senior year season has begun. This is preparing me for college both athletically and academically. I would love the opportunity to be a student athlete at the college level where I can obtain a great education for my future while enjoying what I love most, the game of basketball. My favorite subject is Math where I have always excelled in school and competed in the Math Olympics from 4th grade through 8th grade. I plan to study sports physical therapy or sports medicine in college. The game of basketball has taught me many things that apply to my everyday life such as commitment to others and myself, motivation which helps with academics and athletics, and making wise decisions on and off the court. All these things are not only sports traits but life traits. I have wanted to play college basketball for as long as I can remember. I will be a dedicated team member to any organization and will continue to work hard both on and off season to be the best player I can be and to represent the school I attend in the best possible way.
