My name is Ivan Gazanchiyants and I am currently a Sophomore attending Redwood Highschool in Larkspur, California. I have been playing Golf for about eleven years now, since I was five years old and yet to this day, I am taking it more seriously than ever. During Freshman year, I did not make Varsity, as there was no JV team or anything else, but this year I have been training harder than ever at the range and also in the weight room to make the varsity team as a Sophomore. I hope to get into playing tournaments this year since I’ve been training a lot recently. Most Coaches usually look for someone who is widely determined to their sport. I am determined but also I will do anything that I need to do to either become better or make progress.
Throughout the time I've been playing Golf, I learned that patience and having the right mentality are both my closest friends. I also learned that winning is never just loyal to me, to be honest it doesn’t really care about me, winning is a sort of mastermind of creating fear and doubt in your mind, which also causes setback after setback constantly. Those setbacks are what build who you are and also who I am. Just thinking about it, especially in Golf, the amount of training you put in, is the amount you are going to get back. I remind myself every day that winning doesn’t come to me, it’s never chasing me down, I need to chase it down myself. I don’t play Golf for anyone else, I do it for myself and I hope it’s for the greater good.
