Eric Stasko's gol...I am a 6’0” Golfer from Beecher, IL. I started playing golf in the Fall of my freshman year at Beecher High School and I immediately fell in love with the sport and I made the JV team as a freshman year because I had an average of 58 (9 holes).
I dropped ten strokes of my golf game during the winter, going into my Sophomore year. I made varsity and had a 48 (9 holes) average. I won our conference tournament at Shewami and took 2nd place at an 18 hole tournament at Lake Of The Woods G.C. I worked even harder over that winter and lost another 5 strokes. Junior year I had a 43 (9 hole) average and took 5th place in the Dwight Invitational scramble, the Grant Park Invitational (9th place 87), I won our conference tournament at Shewami, and I took 1st place at Regionals with an 81 and at Sectionals our team took third place to move on to state. I am in my Senior year and I have had multiple top ten finishes including the Gary Saunders Invitational Golf Tournament (8th Place, 79, 18 holes), the Crete-Monee Golf Invite (6th place, 80), St. Rita High School 22nd Annual Southside Shootout (5th place, 78, 18 holes), The Prep Tour Edgewood High School Tune Up (2nd place 69, it was an 18 hole scramble on a course I have never seen before). I am the first to the course and the last one to leave. I have been known to stay outside using a flashlight to see the balls until I feel satisfied with how my practice is going.
My goals for college are to be able to make an impact on the team and truly help the team score. I would like to get my PGA card and eventually work with children on their swings to further the future of golf and golf programs around the country. I would prefer to be on a team that needs me to be there, rather than the back up for a team. I definitely need to have some type of friendly competition. I am not sure what type of schools that I want to go to just yet, but I want to go into golf/sports management.
I am also very involved in the Make A Wish organization. I have volunteered at many functions and my parents and I are working on starting an annual Make A Wish Charity Golf Outing next summer at Balmoral Golf Course.
