As a lifelong golfer, I’m looking forward to continuing my golf career in college. I started golfing when I was very young and won my first “small fry” tournament at age 8. Since then, I’ve continued to improve my game and have led my high school team. Unfortunately, our season was cancelled my Junior year. I kept putting and chipping in my yard. As soon as the golf courses opened, I started taking lessons and played in tournaments with the Indiana PGA.
This wasn’t the first time I have been self-directed or determined. In the rural school that I attend, golf Is not a popular sport. We had old equipment and played with used balls until my Junior year. We finally got new equipment, new bags and tournament balls... then our season was cancelled. But, it was ok for me because golf is always part of my life.
When I think about my future, I know that golf will be a part of it Not just as a player, I want help other people in the sport too. I haven’t settled on a major yet, but it will include the sport of golf. It might be as a coach, athletic director, sports manager or golf pro. in any role, golf will be part of my career.
