Personal Statement
Swimming has been part of my life since fourth grade. I have the strength to work to meet goals in sports and academics. My success in swimming required dedication the sport. When I started swimming in my small town, the swim team just started up. I could barely swim 25 yards without stopping. I now hold the conference record in the 100 back as a freshman, and have swam in state events for relays with my club swim team.
Outside of swimming, I run cross-country and golf which gives me a break to mentally prepare for the next swim season. I'm also active in 4H and have been a camp counselor for three years. I volunteer as camp counselor and junior leaders every summer. I also volunteer to teach swim lessons for my club and high school team. I'm looking forward to a career in engineering.
