I started playing golf in 2011 around the time I was 8. I have always enjoyed golf but had not focused on the sport as much as other sports, until my freshman year. This year, I was determined to shave some strokes off my game, so I have played every day that the weather has allowed on the course where I work, I think this hard work and determination is what sets me apart from other recruits. I am very passionate about trying to improve and my hard work and determination has gotten me to level that I am at this time. In the off-season I am planning to work with a professional in hopes to improve even more. I strive to be a good student athlete, employee and a good steward within the community, something I learned while attending my confirmation classes and volunteering.
My employer, Mike Hall, pro and owner of St. Andrews Golf Course in Cedar Rapids has asked me to play in the pro-junior IPGA several years. My most impressive tournament was this year when we scored 4 under collectively and I contributed with a 72. I have been successful in just a short time playing golf. I made a hole in one while playing at St. Andrews and was awarded 1rst team all-conference in the MVC. As a team, at Kennedy, I was able to play at state my sophomore year, and it was a great honor. I realized how many good players there are in the state and it was humbling, especially since we did not make it this year as a team, but we are all great team mates and push each other to work harder and golf regularly on and off season together.
I am a varsity player at Kennedy High School and have played on varsity since my freshman year. I am also a varsity level tennis player. My goal is to continue to play golf at the college level. I strive to be a great teammate and consider myself very coachable. I want to find a college that is a great fit for me, where I can push myself in the classroom and on the golf course.
