Hi, my name is Jaisal Yadav and I'm a junior at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North. My obsession with golf began at age 6 when I was first given a 7 iron, without a clue as to what to do with it. Having no balls, I decided to aimlessly swing the club and thrash at the grass in our lawn. But for whatever reason, I was fascinated by the club and I created a ginormous divot that can still be seen today. As an extremely competitive person, tournaments are the most looked forward to events on my calendar, and the satisfaction that comes with finishing better and better in those events motivates me to be diligent and resilient.
A big aspect of my relationship with golf is that I understand that golf is not life. Maintaining my perspective that golf is a tremendous privilege, and that no resources or opportunities should be taken for granted, is one of the reasons that I believe I have steadily improved in all facets of the game over the past few years. The passing of my close friend and Varsity teammate in a bicycle accident reinforced those beliefs and I never allow myself to act immaturely or lose control of my temper on the course.
The most important part of my perspective is prioritizing school at all costs. I have maintained a 4.0 unweighted GPA throughout high school with all honors and AP classes, and push myself to branch out and participate in extra curricular activities.
