Lukas DeVries '28 Recruiting Profile

My name is Lukas DeVries and it is my goal to play golf at the collegiate level.  I am a multiple sport athlete, playing high school basketball and golf.  I stumbled upon the game of golf just 5 years ago, during COVID.  It was the only sporting option my friends and I had, as everything else was shut down.  That changed my life.  I absolutely fell in love!  There is this sense of peace I feel while I am playing.  The mental challenges of the game keep things fun.  I have the perseverance it takes to work through the ups and down.  I could easily spend hours a day refining my swing, testing myself with challenging greens and working on my chip shots at all angles.  I now prioritize golf and practice any and every chance I get.  I maintain my practice over the winter, with intense indoor work at Baltusrol and strength training with a golf specialized trainer.  Academically, I maintain a 4.3 weighted GPA in the most rigorous classes, all honors.  I look forward to my sophomore year, when AP options become available, so I can continue to push myself both on and off the course.
