I come from an athletic minded family. Both my parents played college basketball and from the time I can remember they were encouraging me to be the best athlete I can be. My dad has coached me in basketball throughout my entire life. He coached me in AAU basketball until I started high school and now he is my high school coach. This year our team won state with a 43-1 record in TAPPS 6A. Not only is my dad passionate about basketball, he is passionate about golf as well. From the time I can remember, he took me to the golf course and taught me how to play. I fell in love with the sport and love it even more today.
I have learned that golf is a game that will push me to my limits mentally and physically. I am told I do a good job with my mental approach to my game and I tend to be very even tempered not getting too high or too low. I feel like I do a good job of maintaining that, even with a burning desire to win all the time.
My academic goals for high school are to open up doors for my college future and once I am in college I want to focus on maintaining good grades and gaining wisdom for my career after college. Although I have overall done well in school, academics has not always come easy. Reading has been a struggle (mild dyslexia) for me at times and even though it seems I have to work harder than other students I want to make sure I keep my GPA up to set me up for success in college.
