My journey to play collegiate golf began in 8th grade, when I became obsessed with improving my golf game by spending 5-6 hours at the golf course every day. I dreamed of making my high school team and competing at the collegiate level, while getting an excellent education. However, I didn’t make my high school team as a freshman, but came roaring back in my sophomore and junior year. My career highlights from high school golf include: having the lowest score at the first day of tryouts, playing the number one position as a sophomore, and bringing in the winning score against a favored rival.
In 2021, my summer has started off strong with a 79 and 86 at Pinehurst #5 to finish tied for 15th out of 24, along with my lowest round at Bowling Greens Country Club 83, my lowest nine hole round of 37 at Algonkian golf course, placing second in my flight at my first high school tournament of the year, and lowering my handicap to 5.8. I am still striving to improve my game, with a plan to reach a 4 handicap by the end of November 2021.
I have been researching my career path options by taking various electives at my high school (Modern International Relations, Global Social Issues, Intro to Cybersecurity, & Marketing in Cybersecurity). To continue my education in cybersecurity, I have enrolled myself in an intro computer science course at my local community college over the summer of 2021. With the purpose of preparing myself for college-level classes that will be required for my desired major in cybersecurity.
During my collegiate golf experience, I want to push myself towards being a vital member of the team and an outstanding student. I am all about professionalism and hard work and live by the motto, "what we do in life echoes for an eternity" (Russell Crowe). I emulate this motto by always pretending everyone is watching me and everything matters in life, no matter how small the impact.
