After playing hockey for 11 years, you learn so many lessons you cannot learn anywhere else. You also learn to create goals and to work to attain them. From a young age my main goal was to play college hockey and the closer and closer I get, the harder I'm working. I've always been in love with hockey and I don't see the love ending anytime soon, and I don't see the working ending until I achieve my goal. What makes me unique from other players is I don't care about points, I would rather win games than have points. What makes my game special is I never panic with the puck or throw it away. I think the game well and make the best decision most of the time. Academics are important to my family and I. Just passing doesn't cut it. Growing up, my dad has been a huge mentor with school and hockey, as he took the exact same path I am taking. We both went to Sunnyslope High School and we both played hockey our entire lives. He knows the hard-work and dedication it takes to be successful on and off the ice at a high level and he has been drilling that into me since I was young.
