I always like to challenge myself, whether that's physically or mentally. I was told taking all AP classes for my senior year was going to be near impossible to maintain while playing hockey, but I knew the only way to get better was to do the things that are uncomfortable to me. The payoff in the long run, were all my academic scholarships to college, which would help reduce my costs of attending, while allowing my parents to save more money in order to send my three younger sisters to college. I want an education that pushes my limits and helps me develop not only in the classroom, but also outside those doors. I know that the real task in college, is taking what I learn and applying that to real-life situations. Education is always second when it comes to athletics. Sports are privilege, not a right. But if I have the opportunity to continue playing hockey while earning my degree, I will.
