Personal Statement

My love of hockey began when I was six years old. I spent all summer on a pair of new to me roller blades. I was introduced to hockey at the local roller rink. It was not long before I was asked to join the traveling team. I moved to ice hockey at monument hockey rink. I played several seasons in monument including my 2017-2018 with Rampage team helping to secure a state championship. I have played for several hockey clubs to include the Lightning roller hockey team, Monument hockey, Air Force hockey, Woodland Park,  Doherty high school Freshman season, Rampage Midget hockey, Coronado High School Junior, High Altitude Spring league. I have a strong work ethic and both on and off the ice and accept both constructive criticism from coaches and teammates to improve my skills.

I am a forward that can play defense. I am strong in any situation that I'm put in the game, whether it's the penalty kill or the power play. If I have a breakaway I will skate the puck but I have more assist then goals because sometimes that is the best ways to make the play. I will pass the puck to my teammates, or take shots from the blue line. As a great player once said you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. I work hard both on and off the ice. Hockey has been my passion since I was 6.

During collage I would like to be able to manage my time with schoolwork and hockey, and to have fun while living the collage life. Playing hockey and sports in general would allow me to not only stay active but to be challenged physically and mentally. My father has always told me as much as I love sports get your education. I love hockey and sports but I know that my education must always come first. I am committed in the things I love to do, working to success, and to bonding with my teammates.

I am a team player and believe that is it essential look out for my teammates, to have a positive outlook on life. My hockey coaches know they can use me in any position on the ice offence or defense I can get the job done. I'm a play maker, and I see the ice well and have a good sense of where the play is going. I'm a intuitive player and am able to make decisions when I get into a tough situation on the ice.

I am a quick learner, I love to watch game footage from different levels of play. During practice or a game, I usually only need to be told or shown once. I listen to constructive and sometimes not so constructive criticism and always seek to improve on my game.

I've been through several difficult life challenges like many other players. I recently lost a fellow player and friend to suicide that has been one of the hardest things that I have had to deal with. It made me realize how precious our lives are and how always being there for each other as a friend and teammate is important.
