My name is Liam Condon, and my ultimate ambition is to play hockey at the highest level possible. Currently, I attend Westfield High School and I have dedicated the past nine years to developing my skills in hockey. I began my journey with Westfield Youth Hockey before advancing to the Eastern Hockey Federation League with MassConn Travel Hockey AAA during my first year of bantam. As the starting goalie, I played a crucial role in our championship victory during the 2022-2023 season. In addition to hockey, I am also a committed baseball player, serving as a first baseman and left-handed pitcher. I have been competing at the travel level for the past two seasons. Balancing both sports and academic demands has instilled in me the values of discipline and teamwork, fueling my passion for hockey as I strive for further success.
I am fully committed to a rigorous training regimen that includes on-ice practice, off-ice conditioning, and skill development. This summer, I plan to attend camps and showcases to gain exposure and connect with college coaches. I recognize the importance of maintaining strong academic performance; a solid GPA is essential for opening doors to scholarship opportunities. I am actively reaching out to college coaches, sharing highlights of my games, and building a network within the hockey community. By staying focused, dedicated, and resilient, I am confident that I can transform my dream of playing college hockey into a reality.
As the 2024-2025 school year, I transferred to Westfield High School with the specific goal of advancing my hockey career. Over this past summer, I attended an exposure camp at UMass - Amherst which allowed me to showcase my skills and connect with coaches. I am already signed up for additional camps to broaden my network and gain valuable experience. I am committed to proactively positioning myself as a prospect, ensuring that I am on the radar of college programs. Through dedication to my training and fostering relationships within the hockey community, I aim to take significant steps toward achieving my goals.
Coming forward my next couple years I am attending Cushing Academy to not only expand my exposure as a athlete but also keep and strengthen my academic abilities, I will ensure that I am well prepared and intrigued in anything that happens along the way, hoping to one day play at the higher collegiate level. I will strive to not only do well on the ice but also balance out what I need to do in the classroom, making sure I have enough time to head on the ice and also go to the gym while of course keeping all my work to date and never be behind on anything.
My playing style is characterized by agility, anticipation, and composure. I take pride in my quick reflexes, which allow me to react swiftly to unpredictable shots and deflections. Positioning is critical; I maintain a solid stance, staying balanced and ready to move in any direction. I focus on reading the game and anticipating plays, which enables me to effectively cut off angles. Communication with my defenseman is essential, as it helps establish a cohesive and strong defensive unit. Off the ice, I study game footage to refine my technique and learn from every situation. Ultimately, my goal is to instill confidence in my team, making saves appear effortless while remaining calm under pressure.
I remain dedicated to maintaining high academic standards and understand the importance of balancing my studies with my athletic pursuits. I strive to put the same effort in the classroom as I do on the ice, recognizing that both academics and athletics are vital for my future. My ultimate goal is to continue playing hockey at a high level beyond high school, and I firmly believe that a strong academic foundation will support me in achieving that dream.
