Personal Statement

I have been out on the pond or rink for as long as I can remember. I started playing organized hockey at the age of four and have learned since then that teamwork, dedication, and resiliency are essential in life. Hockey is an emotional roller coaster with big wins, slumps, and long losing streaks. Without the three aforementioned qualities, players and teams may get overwhelmed and left out to dry.

My parents have always stressed the importance of academics in my life. Over the years I have learned that I have to be able to balance hockey, school, my various choirs, and church. Being able to manage my schedule allows me to excel in all areas of my life. Academics have also taught me work ethic which is an essential quality of a student athlete.

My leadership abilities, my determination, my work ethic, and love for hockey make me a great student athlete and set me apart from everyone else. I am prepared to bring my commitment, talent, and leadership skills to help my team succeed while also being a great teammate.

What I look for in a school is their academic and athletic opportunities. Growing up in a family that has a great educational foundation, I would look for a school that is very academically competitive while also providing a quality athletic and social experience to prepare me for lifelong success.
