Personal Statement
My name is Nick Sherek, I am a junior at Eagan High School and am looking to play hockey at the highest, most competitive level possible.
Currently I am going to be a second year captain for my high school team. I am very proud of the many accomplishments that I have achieved not only throughout my hockey career but my educational achievements as well.
My most significant accomplishments as a hockey player include, being named All Conference for two years in a very competitive South Suburban Conference, winning the team's Most Outstanding Player award the past two years, leading the team in plus/minus , getting the most points a sophomore and this year delivering the most goals for my High School Team. I was also named the captain of my fall high performance team prior to playing in the 2018 National Championships in Green Bay.
In school I am very active. I have worked extremely hard to achieve a 3.6 GPA with almost all honors and advanced placement classes. I am also involved in many clubs in my school. I am a member of the National Honors Society which means i have a high enough honors GPA along with contributing 36 hours of community service per year. I also am one of the coordinators of the school Link program which helps integrate the incoming freshman into a tough high school life. Also I participate in the school's SADD club which stands for Students Against Destructive Decisions, and our main goal is to reduce teen distractions such as texting and driving. In my BPA club, Business Professionals of America, my group's presentation for the Economic Research Project Team won first place in our region, and participated in the Minnesota Business Professionals of America Leadership Conference.
This year I also got out of my comfort zone and gained a role in the school's fall theater production Peter and The Starcatcher. This production was a prequel to the common Peter Pan and I had a key role.
Last year, I joined the track team. it was my first time ever running track. I was the second fastest on the team in the 100m race. I also was on the 4X100m relay team which won our conference and advanced to state.
I am proud of all the athletic and educational accomplishments I have made, but my main goal is to pursue a hockey career after high school.
