Blake Fletcher '26 Recruiting Profile

 I am 6’-3”, 200 lbs. Forward, and a lefty shot. I am a 3-sport student-athlete, member of Cushing Academy Varsity B boys Hockey Team and a reclassified senior for the 2025-2026 academic year. I currently attend Cushing Academy, where I maintain a 4.5 weighted GPA and take an AP History class. I will graduate in May 2026 at 19 years old. 

 My goal is to compete in college hockey as a Forward at whatever level I can attain. I am a very physical playmaker / goal scorer (I had 32-points over an 18 game season while being called up consistently during the 2024-25 season) and I make my living in the crease. I did play defense for 2 years as a Pewee, 1 year for the NJ Colonials, and 1 year for the Middlesex Black Bears (Andover, MA), a U19 program in NEFPHL, in Andover, MA, when I was 14 years old. I switched back to Forward when I came to The Tilton School as a freshman and continue to do so at Cushing Academy when I transferred in my junior year. I switched back to Forward because of my aggressiveness, my need to score, and my love of being a net front presence. 

Since I have been at Cushing Academy, as a Junior I have received the "Sportsmanship Award" for Boys Varsity Soccer at Cushing in 2024, and I was also awarded the "Wayne F. Sanborn Award" for the highest proficiency in the advancement of athletics at Cushing Academy (which is another way of saying 'best athlete' in the Junior class of 2026). The faculty of Cushing nominates the winners of each class for the Sanborn Award. 

 In the 2024-25 season, I was the top Forward for the Cushing Junior Varsity Hockey, where I was the points leader with 19 goals and 13 assists over an 18-game schedule, all while being consistently called up for Varsity B games and missing JV games - I still maintained a 3.32 PPG. I was recognized by Cushing Academy as "Impact Penguin" in December 2024 with the part of the citation reading "...He has displayed tremendous offensive skills thus far and has been a quiet leader on and off the ice.". 

I was placed on the JV squad after the worst tryout I had experienced to this point in my career. At this time, I was severely ill during those 3 hours of hockey tryouts in November 2024, enough so that I was unable to attend my classes. Also, none of the coaches had ever seen me play before the tryout. Subsequently, because of these factors, I was placed on the JV team. Because of my play on JV, I began to be consistently called up to play for Cushing's Varsity B (there are 3 teams—A, B, & JV), where the coaches finally saw what they wanted from me. It was too late in the season, and the coaches could not bring me up permanently due to roster limitations. I learned a bitter lesson late in my hockey career. I persevered, became a leader on and off the ice, and vowed not to let a setback like this get in my way again. 

 I have played split-season hockey for the U18 Central Mass Penguins (MA) American in the Beast League and EHF in 2024 & 2025 (after playing for the NH Selects out of Wolfeboro, NH, when I attended Tilton in 2023). While with NH Selects during my sophomore year, I was forced to stop playing split-season (2023) hockey & soccer after being diagnosed with Mononucleosis & Strep (only weeks earlier) in October 2023.  Before I stopped playing due to a diagnosed illness that kept me off the ice for 1 month, I was able to score 2 Goals & 1 assist over 3 games for the NH Selects. On November 1, 2023, I was able to return to full-contact sports. For the Fall & Winter Trimesters 2023/24, I made the academic Honor Roll while at Tilton. 

 I competed in the High School Lacrosse Championships @ St. George's School in Middletown, RI, in June 2025 and participated in the Merrimack College " Warrior Way" Prospects Camp. I spent the summer of 2025 both on and off the ice, participating in more Hockey (and some Lacrosse) events while also Lifeguarding during the summer of 2025 in New Jersey. By the end of the summer, my weight training saw me reach 200 lbs.
