Will Vargo '25 Recruiting Profile

My passion for the game of hockey began at a young age.  I was five when the New Jersey Devils reached the Stanley Cup finals.  My parents allowed me to stay up late to watch the whole first period but then it was off to bed.  My dad still reminds me of the times I would wake him up at 4am by tapping on his forehead to ask who won the game.  In a way that was me preparing him for all those early Mites games that were on the horizon.

As a defenseman, my game has evolved over the years.  Originally a pure “shut down” defenseman, my approach is a balance of all aspects of the game, using my skating skills from years of one-on-one skating sessions to strategically join the offense when appropriate while still ensuring penalty-free, smart "shut down" defense on either the left or right side.

In travel/club, I play at the highest levels.  I was honored to be named captain of my Woodbridge Wolfpack team.  I was named as an All Star for my most recent Jersey Shore Wildcat team.  My high school is always ranked near the top of the rankings in the state for the non-public division.  My school has won the state championship multiple times.

My collegiate goal is to play at the highest level.  The competition is incredibly fierce yet I am confident in my skill, my knowledge of the game, and my preparation and approach to each challenge.  I will succeed.
