Personal Statement
My name is Victor Nukovic and, for as long as I can remember, I always loved hockey. I remember going to a Boston Bruins game when I was 5-years-old and cheering them on as they faced the Vancouver Canucks. I knew at that time that this was the sport for me. I’ve always had a huge love for hockey, aspiring to become a professional hockey player.
I believe that what makes me different from everyone else is my heart. I work hard to improve and every day try to do better than the previous. I don’t ever give up -- if my team is down, I always believe there is a way for my team to come back and win. I also pride myself on my work ethic. In practice, I always want to do better than everyone else on my team. I believe that this has helped me become a strong skater and a precise passer. Finally, my coaches have always praised my hockey IQ. I see plays developing on the ice, anticipate different ways they can progress, and adapt quickly when something goes wrong. I try to be one step ahead of everyone else.
In addition to my drive to play hockey, I’ve always been a good student. I push myself to get A’s in the most challenging classes and have taken mostly AP and honors courses in high school. In college, I would love to attend an academically selective school where I can not only challenge my academic skills but also continue my passion for playing hockey.
